Modern Town of Olympia

The modern town of Olympia is situated at foot distance from the majority of archaeological venues and points of interest. The town itself is divided in two by a long pedestrian street which is considered as the centre and commercial heart of the town. Around visitor can find typical Greek taverns, banks [open on weekdays during morning hours], souvenir shops, a post office, a taxi station, several cafes and few bars, an international press shop [ Apostolis is the owner] .

What to do
After your tour to the ancient site and archaeological museum you can stroll in Olympia town. You can try to buy a souvenir from the shops situated right on the pedestrian street or, if you feel more willing to spend you can buy a jewel from the local jewelries or climb on the hill at the edge of the town and visit “Zorbas” the most classic and old bar [since the early 60’s] of Olympia town, offering great view of to the entire area.
